4.- Certification Cycle

The Certification Cycle for our remote certification scheme is designed to efficiently assess vacation rental properties' sustainability performance without the need for on-site audits.

4.1.- Application and Documentation Submission

Vacation rental owners or managers initiate the process by registering and uploading property-related documentation into their dedicated dashboard. Additionally, they utilise the Certitur tool to upload photos showcasing elements aligned with the defined criteria. The geolocation feature ensures that photos are taken in the precise location of the vacation rental.

4.2.- Remote Assessment

The external team of auditors, including verifiers, reviewers, and auditors, remotely assess the submitted documentation and photos against the defined sustainability criteria. Through the use of advanced digital tools, geolocation technology, and real-time access, the auditors ensure the accuracy and reliability of the evaluation process.

4.3.- Evaluation and Validation

The verifiers thoroughly check all uploaded photos and documents, validating each submission for compliance with the sustainability criteria. If any discrepancies or rejections are identified, the information is automatically sent back for correction, promoting thoroughness and accuracy.

4.4.- Review and Confirmation

The reviewer, with their personalised access, reviews the verified assessments and ensures the integrity of the evaluation process. They have the authority to confirm or reject validations done by the verifier, ensuring a comprehensive assessment before proceeding.

4.5.- Certification and Badge Generation

Once the reviewer is satisfied with the evaluation, the certification process is complete. The system automatically generates a digital badge, utilising the Accreditable software, to certify the property's sustainability performance, indicating a minimum score of 20% compliance.

4.6.- Continuous Improvement and Renewal

Upon receiving the certification badge, vacation rental owners or managers are encouraged to engage in continuous improvement efforts throughout the certification period. They set new sustainability goals and strategies following the Plan-Do-Check-Act (PDCA) cycle to achieve greater sustainability and maintain high standards. After the certification period of one year, vacation rentals must reapply for certification and undergo the remote assessment process again to maintain the badge.

This certification cycle, optimised for remote assessments, ensures efficiency, transparency, and consistency while promoting ongoing sustainability improvement in the vacation rental industry. Through our remote certification process, vacation rental providers can showcase their commitment to environmental preservation and community engagement without the need for traditional on-site audits.
